Lake Palestine Trails

Lake Palestine sits in the Piney Woods of East Texas surrounded by Anderson, Cherokee, Henderson, and Smith Counties. Lake Palestine covers 25,560 acres, has 135 miles of shoreline, and a maximum depth of 50 feet with an average depth of 16 feet.

The Lake Palestine region is out in the country between Athens, Texas, on its northwest, and Tyler, Texas, on its northeast, and lies in a rural setting with little commerce. There are a few places to eat, a few campgrounds, and lodging. Fishing and watersports are popular at Lake Palestine.

Lake Palestine Hiking Trails

There are no hiking trails at Lake Palestine. A heavily forested terrain surrounds Lake Palestine. The Upper Neches River Municipal Water Authority owns and operates Lake Palestine, and it has not forged or let another entity forge hiking trails as of now. If you can cut through the forests surrounding Lake Palestine on foot, that is about all this lake offers for hiking activities.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 10)

FAIR. Water stained; high 80s degrees; 0.00 feet below pool. Blue catfish are biting on drum pretty much all day long in 10-12 feet of water drift fishing and jug lines. Black bass are really slow. Hybrids and sand bass are biting early morning and late evening in deep water on spinnerbaits and shallow water baits. Crappie are biting real good around docks, brush piles and tree limbs in deep water. Report by David Holt, Lake Palo Pinto RV Park.
