January Fishing

January has been rough on us with all the cold snow and rain. The cold rains and the snow we had has brought the lake to just over pool levels but fishing has been good.
Bass have been good even with the water temperature dropping from the 60's to the upper 40's. Bass have been good on my World Famous Shimmy Shakers in 2-6 foot. Fishing slow has been best. Other lures are my Big Eye Spinnerbaits and jigs fished in the same locations. Another great lure is the Mister Twister Comida worms fished on split shot rigs and dead sticking them.
the wind has made it tough to fish some of the main lake points and road ways. When you can get out in the deeper water on the points fishing the Comida worms and the famous Mister Twister phenom curl tail worms have been very good. February fishing will change a little bit but you should keep catching fish down south will work so try these lures out. The Mister Twister products can be purchased at Porters Sporting Goods on Lake Palestine and the shimmy shakers, jigs and Spinnerbaits can be purchased from me. I can build most any colors that you would want.

Crappie fishing is good on the river channel fishing the standing timber with jigs and small minnows.

Catfish are very good on rod and reels and on jug lines. The best bait is shad, chicken hearts and night crawlers.
