Crappie Anglers of Texas (CAT) has announced its 6th Annual "Crappiefest" Tournament, to be held on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Lake Fork, Texas. Tournament hours will be from 7am until 1pm, and the weigh-in will be held at ***Rains High School** in Emory, Texas. The entry fee for the tournament is $75 per person for adult anglers, and there is no entry fee for kids. The adult division will compete for a record guaranteed payout of $34,000, while the kids will compete in two divisions for some great prizes.
"This is our 6th year for "Crappiefest" and this tournament has just exploded!", said Jay Reeve, tournament director. "We had 363 anglers last year, and if the weather holds, we are expecting a crowd of more than 400 anglers this year." This is a one-of-a-kind "big fish" tournament where anglers weigh in only one crappie.
There are cash prizes for the 20 largest crappie, with 1st place taking home $5,000. And back by popular demand, the "$7,500 Monster Crappie Bonus" will be available to be shared by any anglers that weigh in a crappie weighing 3 pounds or more. At last year's event, David Harley from Warrensburg, Missouri weighed in a crappie that weighed 3.07 pounds, netting him a check for $12,500!
As with last year's events, one-third of all entry fees will be donated to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.
Much of the excitement generated by this tournament is the ever-popular "Exact Weight Bonuses" and the "Bass Printing Mystery Weight Awards". The first angler to weigh in a crappie weighing exactly 1.00, 1.25, 1.50, 1.75 and 2.00 pounds receives $500, and there is $1,000 given away for anglers that weigh in a crappie weighing the closest to 4 randomly selected weights.
