The Bullard High School duo of Will Carlile and Zachary Hastings, both of Flint, Texas, brought a five-bass limit to the scale Saturday weighing 12 pounds, 15 ounces to win the 2018 TBF/FLW High School Fishing Texas State Championship on Lake Palestine.
A field of 31 teams competed in the no-entry fee tournament, which launched from Village Marina in Flint. In FLW/TBF High School Fishing competition, the top 10-percent of teams competing advance to the High School Fishing National Championship.
The top three teams on Lake Palestine that advanced to the 2018 High School Fishing National Championship were:
1st: Bullard High School, Bullard, Texas – Will Carlile and Zachary Hastings, both of Flint, Texas, five bass, 12-15
2nd: Marble Falls High School, Marble Falls, Texas – Craig Dodson and Kaleb Smith, both of Marble Falls, Texas, five bass, 12-12
3rd: Brock High School, Weatherford, Texas – Chance Burton and Tyler Bouyer, both of Weatherford, Texas, five bass, 11-3
4th: Team Tightlines – Logan Drake, Belton, Texas, and Colton Zahn, Temple, Texas, five bass, 10-0
5th: Cedar Hill High School, Evans, Ga. – Hunter Benner and Brandon Benner, both of Cedar Hill, Texas, four bass, 9-10
6th: Kaufman High School, Kaufman, Texas – Gavin Thompson, Kemp, Texas, and Michael Andrus, Kaufman, Texas, four bass, 9-2
7th: Bullard High School, Bullard, Texas – Colby Fergeson Bullard, Texas, three bass, 6-13
8th: Atlanta High School, Atlanta, Texas – Dalton Johnson, Atlanta, Texas, and Nathan Johnson, Queen City, Texas, four bass, 6-9
9th: Jasper High School, Jasper, Texas. – Hunter Martindale and Kaleb Barnett, both of Jasper, Texas, two bass, 6-8
10th: Lake Travis Bass Club – Colton Etheridge and Titus Hall, both of Austin, Texas, three bass, 6-1
